Working for The Nebraska Examiner

The Nebraska Examiner is a nonprofit independent news source dedicated to providing news for Nebraska.

Earlier in a live meeting with Aaron Sanderford and Cindy Gonzalez of the Nebraska Examiner, we spoke about their reality as reporters.

Sanderford said, “it is not a simple process.” As for being a political reporter, Sanderford is a political reporter and is always getting updated with news.

Sanderford likes to seperate his professional life with his personal interests. He said he is a huge fan of sports and sports news. However he decided to pursue hard news like politics instead. He believes in the importance for Nebraskans to be involved in politics.

Gonzalez and Sanderford agreed that story selection comes down to what is the best story we can cover, that others aren’t reporting.

“70,000 people saw the Husker game, let’s show them something they didn’t see, said Sanderford.

They enjoy reporting the stories that aren’t yet reported. These two reporters spoke about their passion for their work and some of the benefits to working in a news company.

Gonzalez discussed some of the perks in reporting. Gonzalez said the stories come to her, and she decides which ones to do.

Part of being a reporter is being surrounded by stories, and sometimes it is hard to choose which story to pursue.

The freedom she gets in her work is a benefit because she worked her way up to her current position.

Gonzalez said, “There is no set time for a publication.”Another benefit of The Nebraska Examiner is that anybody can republish their stories as long as credit is given.

Sanderford and Gonzalez are a unit of successful reporters and continue to work for the Nebraska Examiner.
